· news analysis The latest show of force by the police comes at a time when Umno and its coalition partners are experiencing leadership transitions and factional struggles.

The above news items from Malaysiakini tells us why we need to abolish the Evil Internal Security Act (ISA).

The ISA is like a loaded gun in the wrong hands. We must not just stop at Having Candle Light Vigils. We the Rakyat (People), must HARTAL and as sure as CHANGE is coming our way, we must be committed towards REGIME CHANGE in Malaysia.

We the Rakyat must ensure that when that regime change comes, past and present BN leaders must have their day in Court for crimes against the Rakyat.

The Police have shown that they are Thugs in Uniform acting on the behest of the Evil BN/Umno regime. The same is with all the other government agencies which are infested with Umno lackeys, sympathizers and corrupt officials. The ACA and certain members of the Judiciary are all under the influence of the Evil BN/Umno regime. The MSM whether RTM, TV3 or Utusan Malaysia are continuing to spin their lies and half truths. Let’s make them all accountable when regime change comes. Najib, Mahathir, Samy Velly, Ling Leong Sik, Ahmad Ismail, Daim Zainuddin, Khairy, Jamaludin Jarjis et al must have their day in the Rakyat’s Court.

A LIGHTED CANDLE IN OMAN FOR THE ISA DETAINEES

The Scribe calls on all freedom loving people, whether you are Malaysian, Expatriate or on vacation in Penang to join your Brothers and Sisters in the Candle Light Vigil at the Esplanade today at 8pm.

For those who are not able to make it to the Esplanade can also light a candle in Solidarity where ever you are in the World not just for the ISA Detainees in Malaysia but for anyone who is unjustly detained without trial anywhere in the World.

The world must come together with one voice and put the regimes that persecute its citizens on notice.

Word of advice to the CPO of Penang, DON'T TRY TO PULL THE SAME STUNT YOUR COUNTERPART IN SELANGOR DID. IF YOU DO, YOU WILL FIND MAKKAL SAKTI (PEOPLE POWER) RUNNING WILD ON YOU. NO CLOWNS WITH RED HELMETS PLEASE!!!

Meanwhile on a lighter note, Antimamak came up with this very interesting version of the Three Stooges of UMNO, not Larry, Curly or Moe, but our very own Nazri, Albar and Bung.

UMNO, KU KLUX KLAN & NAZISM

Malaysia's ruling race based Umno Party has a slogan that reads DULU, KINI & SELAMANYA (Before, now and forever). President-elect Barack Obama's victory in the just concluded US Presidential Election has seen a generally ominous silence from Umno, and that's telling! They fear that change is coming to Malaysia to wreck their dreams of paradise built on the sweat and ruination of others.

Not long ago, the continent of Europe was plunged into a war that resulted in the deaths of millions. Only thirty years before that another Great War similarly took countless lives as did battles that raged along religious, and later nationalist lines, from the middle of the 14th century.

Yet today, many citizens in countries in Europe are slowly beginning to think of themselves as Europeans before thinking of themselves as citizens of a particular country.

Today, lawmakers in the institutions of the European Union make a large majority of laws that apply in countries within Europe collectively. The currency in Europe is the Euro. So attitudes do change, albeit over time.

Can this not happen in Malaysia? Meaning to say, why can’t we imagine that even if today the demand remains as strong as ever for race-based politics, that attitudes will evolve, such that one day, we will think of ourselves as Malaysians first, and vote accordingly? Of course we should not be waiting for centuries and wars for this to happen, like my example of Europe.
The fact that Malay racists such as Muhammad Muhammad Taib, Ali Rustam, Khir Toyo can garner so many nominations in the run up to the Umno elections sends a chill down the spine of The Scribe.
Just last week, unrepentant Umno racist Ahamd Ismail was given a Heroes Welcome in Penang by Umno. The Scribe is wondering what is the difference between Umno, the NAZI Party and the Ku Klux Klan.

However all is not lost for this country. What we do need to ensure is that we have an environment in which an evolution to non race based politics can occur naturally, by the will and demand of the electorate, and that there is no unnatural suppression of such evolution.

We don't need deadwood politicians such as former PM Mahathir telling us that there is a need for race based parties in Malaysia because in today’s world of instantaneous communication and digital technology, such an evolution can occur in a matter of years or decades, as opposed to centuries.

The suppression of such an evolution can occur by unfair means and it is this that is morally reprehensible. We are seeing here in Malaysia how the evil BN/Umno regime uses the Sedition Act and the ISA to suppress such an evolution.

Such suppression typically occurs also when there is deliberate misinformation about the merits of alternative non race-based political models which is done by the pro-Government MSM. Or where there is a failure of governance institutions and civil society to provide sufficient checks and balances against governmental abuse of authority to prevent such natural evolution from occurring.

Whatever the case, change is coming to Malaysia. We can see this in the Rakyat's (People's) defiance of the BN/Umno Police threats, intimidation's and attacks towards the Rakyat.

The Scribe has this to say to the Police and the Evil BN/Umno regime, "WHAT YA GONNA DO WHEN MAKKAL SAKTI (PEOPLE'S POWER) RUNS WILD ON YOU!!!

Let's Get Rid of The Three Stooges from Parliament! ~ Malaysiakini

Malaysiakini reported that Parliament Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia (picture above) rejected YB Karpal Singh's emergency motion on the Chief Justice for the second time in 24 hours.
This Scribe has said it before and will say it again. This sorry excuse for a Parliament Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia must be kicked out from Parliament together with the other traitors of Sabahans and Sarawakians, Wan Junaidi and Ronald Kiandee as they have once again proven that they are not qualified to sit on the Speakers Chair.
The Malay words that best describe these Three Stooges are 'biadap' and 'kurang ajar'. We have seen how this pig Pandikar bully YB Fong Po Kuan to tears for standing up for the Rakyat.
By the way, do you know that the Tamil word for pig is 'pandi'? Well it sure sounds and looks like Pandikar. Pandikar in an interview said that he may quit the Speaker's post if it puts a strain on his health. Well Speaker Pandikar, with the Rakyat cursing you for your evil actions, it's best you step down now so that to delay your appointment with Mungkar and Nakir (the angels of Death) !!! Remember, one of your predecessor's Syed Nasir died on the Speaker's chair? Let's not have history repeat itself.
This Scribe has written previously on the bias and ineffectiveness of Dewan Rakyat Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia, Deputy Speakers Wan Junaidi and Ronald Kiandee.
As far as the Evil BN/Umno regime is concerned, anything decided by the Evil BN/Umno regime cannot be questioned or over ruled by any BN member. This rule, it appears, also include the Dewan Rakyat Speakers.
When you have a Speaker toeing party line, what chance has any MP whether from BN or Pakatan Rakyat have in raising a motion if it is deemed by the Speaker to be not in the interest of the BN regime even though it is in the interest of the Electorate?
It appears, we have a 'Rubber Stamp' Parliament. We can't expect ass kissers like Ong Tee Keat, Dr. Subramaniam, Richard Riot, Joseph Pairin, Bernard Dompok etc. to stand up against Umno's hegemony in Parliament. In fact, Deputy Speaker Ronald Kiandee even admitted over RTM1 during a live Parliamentary broadcast that he was confident that all BN MP's will vote for any Bill put forward by the BN regime in Parliament.
What hope does parliamentary democracy have in this country when a Speaker can have such a view? Folks, we have been robbed of our opportunity by these goons dressed as Speakers who prevent our grievances to be heard in Parliament.
This Scribe believes the time has come to do away with the tradition of having individuals from the party with the majority in Parliament from appointing it's members as speakers. There is clearly a conflict of interest here from what we can see from the conduct of the three goons who call themselves Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
This Scribe suggests that we have a retired member of the Bench, preferably someone who is highly respected and can be trusted by the Rakyat be appointed to sit on the Speaker's Chair. He or she must be someone who cannot be cowed by the BN thugs led by the likes of Nazri Aziz.
This Scribe calls on all MP's to seriously think about this less they want our Parliament to be the laughing stock of the so-called Free World.

PM & Home Minister CAN Be Prosecuted By The INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT for Using ISA !

Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar had said that the Government would respect the decision of the Shah Alam High Court to free YM Raja Petra Kamarudin. Now he is saying that the Government is going ahead to appeal against the High Court order to have RPK released from detention under the draconian ISA. This just goes to show that Albar and the rest of the BN/Umno regime are a bunch of pathological liars!

Little Black Bird told The Scribe that an overwhelming 96% respondents on a NTV7 Poll do not want the government to appeal against RPK's release. Yet the BN/Umno regime insists of going ahead well against the wishes of the Rakyat (People).

A Poll carried out by The Scribe titled "If Malaysia's Internal Security Act (ISA) is a CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY, those using it must be prosecuted by the INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT in The Hague". Out of 356 respondents, 97% of the respondents were of the opinion that THOSE using the ISA must be prosecuted by the INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT. This means that the Malaysian government especially the past and present Home Minister and Prime Minister can be prosecuted in the INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT.

Double Speak By Albar & Police

US President George W. Bush calls Al Qaeda a bunch of terrorists and assassins. The Scribe however says that this description best describes UMNO and their thugs the Royal Malaysian Police. After all, who blew up the Late Altantuya Shaaribuu? Who assassinated the Umno politician in Negri Sembilan? Who killed innocent civilians at Memali?

Who demonstrated at APCET II? Who demonstrated during US Secretary of State Dr. Condoleeza Rice's visit to Malaysia? Who demonstrated in Penang when Pakatan Rakyat dumped BN? Who wants the bathe the Keris with the blood of the non Malays? Who beat up tear gassed innocent Patriotic Citizens at the Bersih and Hindraf rallies? Who brutally attacked unarmed Patriotic Citizens at the candle light vigil in PJ?

Selangor’s Chief Police Officer insists that the police did not 'disperse' the candlelight vigil in PJ last night while participants were singing the national anthem even though video evidence prove otherwise. While moronic, BN/Umno regime Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar claims that he did not know about police action last night to 'disperse' a candlelight vigil by unarmed Patriotic Civilians. What a bunch of pathological liars!!!

The following Comment is by ANDREW.

There is just no right words to describe the attitude of the policemen, FRU and detective. They just love action and could not be bother that the crowds were peace loving citizens taking a stand against injustices of the ISA as well as expressing their stand on freedom in such a gathering.
It is so clearly shown that they rule by mob law as the people were just there in peaceful candle light vigil, yet those in authority chose to attacked these peaceful people. Get lawyers to sue for the assault and injuries inflicted but get them to pay personally. Not via the govt fund as that would entails tax payers fund too.
We just need more support from PKR and PAS for all such future vigil. It can't simply be seen as a DAP show as that would be misconceived and issue of racial overtones set in. Show that it is the common people that are upset with the govt for having misguided policies that goes against the people and politics are not involved. Where is democracy that we talk so much about ? This is unjust as demonstration of certain group against bar council forum, against APCET II and many other incidents are not acted with same force. Rather the men in blue were there to guide them ensuring that the said forum stop there and then.

We just need to have a govt for the people by the people as this regime has not shows its impartiality when taking action.

Rakyat Pearl Harbored by BN/UMNO Police !!!

The combo of pictures above shows a crowd of Patriotic Malaysian Citizens comprising of the elderly, women, children and even a Catholic Priest in a peaceful Candle Light Vigil before they were brutally attacked by the BN/Umno led Police. Do they deserve this?!
The Scribe notes with deep concern the manner in which the Royal Malaysian Police under the orders of the BN/Umno regime brutally attack a peaceful gathering of Patriotic Malaysian Citizens in Petaling Jaya last night. What makes it even more sickening is the fact that the Rakyat (People) were brutally attacked by the moronic and demonically possessed Police, FRU and Special Barbarians (Special Branch) while the the Rakyat were singing the National Anthem Negaraku.
This reminds The Scribe when Americans were standing in attention to their National Anthem 'Star Spangled Banner' while the Japanese attack of Pearl Harbor was underway. Well, November 9, 2008 will be remembered as a day of infamy when the Rakyat were attacked by Thugs of the Evil BN/Regime while singing the National Anthem!

Initial reports suggest that a MP, Assemblyman, City Councillor, and a Catholic Priest were among the 23 Patriotic Citizens who were detained. It was reported that YM Raja Petra Kamarudin spoke at the Candle Light Vigil in PJ. The Scribe gets the feeling that the Police was targeting RPK as they seem not to have enough of him. The Scribe is very concerned about the safety of Brother RPK and Brother Haris Ibrahim as there is no word as to what happened to them.

If anyone buys this crap about Abdullah Badawi being a nice man, The Scribes says to you, Go suck a lemon. Time for regime change and I hope their Majesty's The Malay Rulers will intervene and put an end to this Evil Regime by sacking the BN/Umno government and the top Police brass for crimes against the Rakyat. Your Majesty's, please don't stand by and allow your loyal subjects to be brutalized by this Evil Regime.

BAD BLOOD

The following Article was contributed by JAMES ANAK BOND.

Allright, two states in Borneo Island also want positive change in a country called Malaysia. Alternatively, we can cancel out this country.

Read below a 'tale' about a revolution in Malaysia. People, prepare for war!!!!
Extract from
http://knightadventure.blogspot.com/2008/11/tale-from-borneo.html

Chapter: BAD BLOOD

The story goes...
For centuries, the ogres, the goblins and the trolls in Malaya have been in constant disagreement with Borneo Island over the rights to rule in that island. In principle, Malaya agrees to accord autonomy to Sabah and Sarawak. But in practical situation, Malaya pokes its ugly noses in nearly everything that is Borneo. They even ‘ogring’ tens of thousands of aliens in the shape of gollums from the Philippines and toyols from Indonesia. That they did so the men-elves in Sabah become more ogre than they can become man.

It is understood that the establishment of Malaysia was much like a marriage. Malaya, Singapore, Sabah and Sarawak entered into matrimony on September 16, 1963, long before there is telephone or train.

The four regions pledged unity as a single, sovereign federation, promising to be faithful and equal partners in good times and in bad, in joy and in sorrow. As it turned out, Singapore seceded from Malaysia two years later. Malaya and Borneo Island continue as partners, and they lived happily ever after – but happy as in a feigned smile.

Malaya does not honour his duties as a spouse. The relationship between Malaya and Borneo is no longer sacrosanct, a marriage rocked with broken promises. Borneo has ‘descended’ in ranks to become no more than a wronged concubine in an unfortunate union, with Malaya enjoying political supremacy and socio-economic advantage.

Then come the day when great wizards from Borneo meet up with their Malayan counterparts in Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur. Much to the chagrin of the Borneo representatives, the Malayans could not answer many discrepancies in relationship between Borneo and Malaya. Not wanting to subject Borneo to any more pretence from the ogres, James Jemut Masing proposes a DIVORCE with Malaya.

Boldly he speaks out, “Sabah and Sarawak feel that we have been sidelined. There is still that uneasy feeling that begs us to question if we are really part of the three regions.”
Bernard Dompok, formerly a Sabah king, stands up to echo Masing’s view: “If we want national unity, it must not be artificial — you know, singing this song or that song... it should be more practical, such as settling grouses and changing the people’s mindsets. There is still this perception that Malaysia refers specifically to Malaya. When I tell the ogres in Malaya that I am going back to Sabah, they ask me when I am coming back to Malaysia. The mindset that Sabah and Sarawak is an addendum to Malaysia must change.

Sarawak’s John Brian chips in: “Sabah and Sarawak were guaranteed enormous autonomy under the auspices of the 20-Point Agreement, for Sabah, and the 18-Point Agreement, for Sarawak, the international treaty signed during Malaysia’s establishment. The agreement stipulates, among others, that Sabah and Sarawak are not required to declare ogre religion as their state religion. The states would also have control over immigration, the civil service, education and development funds.

One ogre from among the Malayan bench barked: “That’s your problem. These rights have, over the years, been bartered away by your own politicians who were eager to gain favour with Malaya, am I right?!”

Bung Mokthar from Sabah promptly cut in: “And we have replaced those politicians, right?!”
By that remark, the house bursts with laughter. Sarawak’s Tugauw asks the Bung to sit down and never again introduce his silliness in matter so grave. Mokhtar being a bung does not even know how the howler has leaked shame upon himself.

Tugauw grabs his spear and trains the weapon in the direction of Hishamuddin Hussein, causing great panic across the room. Now the people have stopped laughing, Tugauw says, “Hear us now, you moron, respect for that agreement is the lynchpin of unity between Borneo and Malaya. We, the people of Borneo, feel that the federal government has not met their promise. Sabahans have been short-changed in some crucial areas. The civil service for instance. After 45 years as Malaysians, there are not many signs of advancement in the civil service; we don’t get a chief secretary, for instance. There are many explanations offered by the federal government.

But the country has not worked hard enough to ensure that the civil service is a reflection of Malaysia. We should have a service that is Malaysia, truly Malaysia. Another point of contention is the economic disparity between the Ogre Bumiputera and the non-Ogre Bumiputera. There are glaring disparities that require attention.

Sarawak’s Joseph Tawie: “You ignore at our peril the importance of the international treaty that binds Malaysia. Sabah is wedded to the 20 points. And Sarawak is wedded to the 18 points. We hold it dear to our hearts and you must respect that. Nations are born not because the law binds them. But nations survive, and unity and patriotism are created by winning people’s hearts. Sabah and Sarawak are more than equal partners under the Federation. Most of the 20 points are included into the Constitution; and the states have additional law-making and financial powers, and sources of revenue that are not available to the Malaya states. But whether we, the people of Sabah and Sarawak, are afforded those special rights in the administration, that is the question.

Malaya: That’s what you think, huh? Sabah and Sarawak must also take a share of the blame. The lack of development in these two states is also the result of inadequate leadership, mismanagement, and the lack of dynamic policies. Above all other, your politicians suck!

Sabah: Very well, grant us complete autonomy in all areas. You’ll see who sucks up to who then.

Malaya: That would go against the notion of building a united nation.

Sarawak: A united nation under a Federal Government? Good, then the Federal Government should respect Sabah and Sarawak’s cultural, religious and language diversity and autonomy. The many minority Bumiputera groups in Sabah and Sarawak are largely marginalised by sheer virtue of the fact that every facet of life — be it pop culture or political discourse — operate along three Malayan racial lines, the Orges, the Trolls and the Goblins. The people of Sabah and Sarawak are more than often under-represented in these areas.

Sabah: Furthermore, the government should not export Malaya’s brand of race-based politics or try to ‘ogring’ the population. Such actions would undermine the inherent pluralism in Sabah and Sarawak. Malaya has been trying to export its model of race-based politics to Sabah since the early 1990s. It has racialised politics in Sabah and created a heightened sense of ethnicity. Race is not an issue there. When you start promoting race, you will heighten the awareness of racial issues. Additionally, while issues of an Ogre state often given importance in Malaya, Ogre mutants and converts are a minority among the 27 ethnic groups in Sarawak and 32 in Sabah.

Malaya: Why you need autonomy, you ungrateful lots?

Sarawak: Sabah and Sarawak feel the need to maintain autonomy because it is the last bastion in being recognised as an integral part of Malaysia. Once Sabah and Sarawak gain parity with the Malaya in terms of progress, development and education, the states’ protective barriers will naturally fade away.

Sabah: My dear, Sarawak, this is the opportune moment for us to make demands from the federal government in order to adjust the widening disparity between Borneo and Malaya. Already, post 8 March, the federal government has been allocating funds for Sabah and Sarawak, and addressing grievances that have long been ignored such as the issues of illegal immigrants and lack of economic parity.

Sarawak: Let me ask you, Malaya, when is Malaysia formed?

Malaya: Why, August 31, 1957. Malaysia is 51 years old today.

Sabah: You fools! Malaysia is formed on September 16, 1963. That was 45 years ago. Malaysia was not formed 51 years ago. Let us not deceive ourselves to think that something was formed before its existence.

Sarawak: If you cannot remember the date, Malaya, I can forgive you. But you remember a date but that date is wrong. If you cannot keep to your heart thing as simple as our wedding date, what good then is this marriage? Forget it, forget about everything, forget about us; forget about Malaysia!

Tolerance Over Race Can Spread, Studies Find

The following is a contribution by PAKAC LUTEB. The Scribe hopes that some of this CHANGE by Barack Obama will rub on our racist society with it's KETUANAN MELAYU and get rid of the toxic called UMNO!

This was supposed to be the election when hidden racism would rear its head. There was much talk of a “Bradley effect,” in which white voters would say one thing to pollsters and do another in the privacy of the booth; of a backlash in which the working-class whites whom Senator Barack Obama had labeled “bitter” would take their bitterness out on him.

But lost in all that anguished commentary, experts say, was an important recent finding from the study of prejudice: that mutual trust between members of different races can catch on just as quickly, and spread just as fast, as suspicion.

In some new studies, psychologists have been able to establish a close relationship between diverse pairs — black and white, Latino and Asian, black and Latino — in a matter of hours. That relationship immediately reduces conscious and unconscious bias in both people, and also significantly reduces prejudice toward the other group in each individual’s close friends.

This extended-contact effect, as it is called, travels like a benign virus through an entire peer group, counteracting subtle or not so subtle mistrust.
“It’s important to remember that implicit biases are out there, absolutely; but I think that that’s only half the story,” said Linda R. Tropp, an associate professor of psychology at the University of Massachusetts. “With broader changes in the society at large, people can also become more willing to reach across racial boundaries, and that goes for both minorities and whites.”

Mr. Obama’s election notwithstanding, institutional and individual prejudice still infects many areas of modern life, all experts agree. And this year, worries about the economy may have trumped any persistent concerns about race.

Yet to the extent that race played a role at all, it seemed to break more in Mr. Obama’s favor than against him. In voter surveys, most of the 17 percent of white voters who said race played some part in their decision pulled the lever for Mr. McCain; but among all voters who took race into account, Mr. Obama won the majority.

“I’m a Republican, and for me to vote for Obama I had to have a certain level of trust, that he was going to do the right thing, that he wasn’t going to be small-minded, that he wasn’t going to take care of one group of people over another,” said Nelson Montgomery, 50, a white sales executive in Buffalo who lived in a black neighborhood in Houston early in his career.
“What it came down to,” Mr. Montgomery said, “is that we’re so polarized right now, we’re only hearing from the fringe on either side, and we need more than anything to build trust. And I felt he could do that.”

In studies over the past few years, researchers have demonstrated how quickly trust can build in the right circumstances. To build a close relationship from scratch, psychologists have two strangers come together in four hourlong sessions. In the first, the two share their answers to a list of questions, from the innocuous “Would you like to be famous? In what way?” to the more serious, like “If you could change anything about the way you were raised, what would it be?”
In the second session, the pair competes against other pairs in a variety of timed parlor games. In the third, they talk about a variety of things, including why they are proud to be a member of their ethnic group, whether Latino, Asian, white or black. Finally, they take turns wearing a blindfold, while their partner gives instructions for navigating a maze.

Trivial as they may sound, those exercises create a relationship “that is as close as any relationship the person has,” said Art Aron, a social psychologist at Stony Brook University who developed the program with his wife, Elaine N. Aron.

The new relationship can last months or longer, and it almost immediately lowers a person’s score on a variety of prejudice measures. Moreover, it significantly reduces anxiety during encounters with other members of that second group, as gauged by stress hormone levels in the saliva.

In a series of studies, Art Aron and others have found that, by generating a single cross-group friendship, they can quickly improve relations between cliques that have been pitted against one another in hostile competitions. In a continuing study of some 1,000 new students at Stony Brook, Dr. Aron has found that merely being in the same class where other interracial pairs were interacting can reduce levels of prejudice.

The reason such changes emerge, some psychologists argue, is that people have a selfish urge to expand their own identities through others — to make themselves a part of others’ lives, and vice versa, as lovers, parents, colleagues, friends. Studies find that that is exactly what happens in a relationship: people are not merely aware of their closest friends’ problems but to some extent feel the sting, the humiliation, the injustice.

Psychologists can manipulate this need for self-expansion. In one recent experiment, led by Stephen Wright, a psychologist at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, researchers had 47 students describe their workloads and activities and made each student feel either overextended or in a rut, based on bogus personality tests.

“It’s easy enough to do, because students always feel both overwhelmed and in a rut,” Dr. Wright said. Those led to feel in a rut, he went on, “were more interested than the others in having a friendship with someone with a name that is clearly from a minority group.”

This impulse pushes against any implicit or subconscious bias a person may have. When larger issues are in play, race can shrink quickly in importance. In the late 1960s, when the black politician Richard G. Hatcher was vying to become mayor of Gary, Ind., one neighborhood near the steel mills was running nearly 90 percent against him, said Thomas Pettigrew, a research professor in social psychology at the University of California, Santa Cruz, who helped do the polling. It turned out that many people there were most concerned about a nearby city dump that cast a bad smell over the neighborhood.

After he was elected, Mayor Hatcher closed the dump, and the next election he got nearly 40 percent of the vote from the neighborhood.
“A lot of people living there cared a lot more about the dump than the color of their mayor,” Dr. Pettigrew said. About Mr. Obama’s election, he added, “the economic crisis I think has had the same impact.”

MALAYSIAKINI BEING USED TO INSTIGATE VIOLENCE AGAINST NON MALAY MALAYSIANS!

The following is a very disturbing Blog posting that has been allowed to appear in MKINI IN BLOGS that appears to provoke and encourage racial attacks against non Malay Malaysians. The Blogger of this Blog is also attempting to perpetrate some kind of violence against fellow Blogger Sloone .

The Scribe is wondering why Malaysiakini allows Blogs that promote hate to appear in it while certain Blogs that are critical against the BN/Umno regime are not featured in MKINI IN BLOGS.

CAUTION: THE EVIL SYED HAMID ALBAR MAY TRY TO GET RPK REARRESTED!

BREAKING NEWS!

malaysiakini reports that YM Raja Petra Kamarudin (picture above) will walk away a free man at 1600 Hours today at the Shah Alam High Court. The Shah Alam High Court ordered the immediate release of Raja Petra Kamarudin, an ISA detainee, from the Kamunting detention centre following his habeas corpus application.

The Malaysia Today editor was illegally detained under the ISA in September. He was ordered to be detained for two years after he was considered a threat to national security by the Evil BN/Umno regime over his articles published in his website. He is to be brought to the court today to facilitate his release.

The judge ruled that incompetent Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar had acted outside his jurisdiction when he issued the two-year detention order under Section 8(1) of the ISA. However, The Scribe is worried here that the oxymoron Syed Hamid Albar and Lucifer's Twin IGP Musa Hassan may try to get RPK rearrested under some ludicrous charge as they know a free RPK is detrimental to their evil existence and as well as that of the Evil BN/Umno regime. We have seen this happen many times outside of Court Houses in the country.

Even with the release of RPK, the Candle Light Vigil throughout the country must continue until the last ISA Detainee is released! The Scribe wants to take this opportunity to thank the many men and women who have given their all to organize these Candle Light Vigils. The Scribe especially want to thank masterwordsmith for the fantastic job being done in keeping the flames of Justice and Freedom burning.

Say NO to BN/Umno Sexism - THE MISSING COMMENT

THIS IS THE COMMENT THE SCRIBE WAS TALKING ABOUT IN THE POSTING " Say NO to BN/Umno Sexism! "

"Storm in a teacup. I think what a man and a woman do with each other in the private is his own business. Why should double standards be applied to anybody - even a politician? If the majority of Malaysian men are having a good time with their women partner, then it's really not for us to care. Even politicians are human beings. However, if he is cheating on his wife or engaging in the services of a prostitute, then it is another matter. It speaks volumes on his lack of principles. In this case, I am not sure if this politician in question is married".

RPK TO BE FREED TODAY ~MALAYSIAKINI

BREAKING NEWS!

The Shah Alam High Court this morning ruled that the detention of well-known blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin under the ISA was illegal and ordered his immediate release. Malaysiakini reports that YM Raja Petra Kamarudin will be brought today to the Shah Alam High Court where he will be released from illegal detention under the ISA by the Evil BN / Umno regime.

RPK's release is yet another blow to the BN/Umno regime of PM Abdullah Badawi and especially so to PM in waiting Najib Razak as RPK is seen as a one man demolition and Terminator of the Evil BN/Umno regime that has ruled Malaysia since independence from Britain.

A freed RPK will certainly cause insomnia to creep into the lives of Najib and the rest of the BN/Umno goons. Please be there to greet Malaysia's Martin Luther King Jr.

CHANGE IS COMING TO MALAYSIA!

Say NO to BN/Umno Sexism!

Women in Malaysia as in the world over have suffered long enough in silence from the degradation and abuses the masculine gender has and still is perpetrating against them. The Scribe just can't understand the men especially in Asian societies who treat women as an object of venting their own shortcomings and frustrations. What's more troubling is that many young girls (The Scribe is talking here about girls as young as 12 years old) are giving up their virginity to boys (very often to men 3 or 4 times their age).
The Scribe have seen young girls dating men whom are old enough to be their fathers. My question is that what are their parents doing? Why are they allowing their children to stay out late at night. Even in the Middle East, this has been a problem for a very long time. I can understand the nature and culture of the people in the Middle East but what really gets The Scribe worked up is the way women and girls are treated and perceived in Malaysia 'Tanah tumpah darahku'. At one time it was said that if a girl was still a virgin by her 18th birthday, she was not 'cool'. Now, having gone through an abortion or abortion sadly appears to be the norm. Many of these young girls don't seem to realize that love has got nothing to do with giving up their virginity to any Tom, Dick or Harry.
Even in Parliament we have heard how the self appointed 'Leader of the Malaysian Indians' , the one that misguided Indianputras claim to be 'Walking the Talk', Samy F. Vellu equating women with a toilet bowl in Parliament. Then we have the hypocrite Ayatollah wannabes Mohammed Aziz, Bung Mokhtar, former Jerai MP Ameerudin Badarudin, 'close one eye' former MP of Jasin, Mohamed Said equating a leaking Parliament roof with a women's menstrual cycle and a source of other sexist remarks. Interestingly, many of these idiotic remarks seem to come from BN and especially Umno members. The latest being from Mohd. Ali Rustam. From Vijendran to Chua Soi Lek, the general held view is that it is OK for men to have fun with women no matter what their age is or if they are married.
Even when girls get raped, it is they who get blamed and not the animal that committed the crime. The most sickening thing is that female BN MP's like Sharizat Jalil keeps mum whenever these MCP's open their foul mouths. The following comment was picked up from a Blog where the Blogger who is connected to the evil BN regime was accused of taking advantage of a young girl by having her to reveal her nude photos to him. Whether there was any truth to this accusation about the Blogger is not for The Scribe to comment but what The Scribe wants to highlight is the disturbing nature of the comment itself in the Blog. The following is an excerpt of that comment:
"Storm in a teacup. I think what a man and a woman do with each other in the private is his own business. Why should double standards be applied to anybody - even a politician? If the majority of Malaysian men are having a good time with their women partner, then it's really not for us to care. Even politicians are human beings. However, if he is cheating on his wife or engaging in the services of a prostitute, then it is another matter. It speaks volumes on his lack of principles. In this case, I am not sure if this politician in question is married".
THE SCRIBE WANTS TO HEAR FROM WOMEN, YOUNG AND OLD, OF YOUR RESPONSE TO THE ABOVE MENTIONED COMMENT.
Grrrl:Rebel wrote an essay about the Grrrl Scene in Malaysia. This Article which appeared on http://grrrlzines.net/interviews/grrrlrebel.htm gives us a glimpse of where women stand in Malaysia. This is just an excerpt of the Article. The Scribe suggests that you go to the link above and read the whole Article.
Do you define yourself as a feminist?
Carol: Yes, I am and proud of it. My boyfriend and some of my boy friends see me being a feminist as an irritation. They say I’m making a big deal out of nothing. They say sexism is no longer an issue. Excuse me! I beg to differ. If sexism is no longer an issue, how come women’s voices are rarely heard? How come they are only a few women in cabinet ministers? How come there are still perverts at the mosh pit? How come those men still harass girls on the streets? How come some boyfriends don’t like their girlfriends play in bands? I mean what is so not sexist about those? Just because I was born with vagina I have to conform to some stupid rules based on the ground of gender. I can’t do that and this just because I’m a girl? C’mon, all human beings should be given equal opportunities regardless of what gender, race, religion, sexuality they subscribe to. Being feminists are not about hating men but rather about asserting their rights and standing up for themselves in order to make the world a better place for both men and women. As long as the patriarchal and sexism still there I’ll always be a feminist.
Elise: I’ve always comfortable being a woman, being a feminist. Even if I don’t subscribe to feminism, I have always been the type of girl who are headstrong and not easily to be beaten down. I’m not going to just sit tight let people violate my rights; I’ll stand up for myself and speak out my mind. I resent to be treated as a “girl”. I resent the idea of women being the weaker sex and second gender to pander to male ideas and I resent the stereotypical image that women are the ones who have to do the cleaning, taking care of the babies, washing the dishes and the list goes on. I believe that all people are inherently equal, no matter where you’re from or what gender you are, or what color your skins are. I don’t like the idea of one particular gender is superior to another. We all have our rights and don’t let the rights to be taken away. Learn to use it. Men might be strong physically, but it doesn’t mean they have to be treated any better they treat women. Apparently, you don’t have to be masculine to succeed in life. We don’t need muscles. All we need are a brain and an attitude.
What are the most pressing issues you are confronted with in daily life (as a woman/feminist)?
Carol: Generally speaking, it’s so hard to being a woman or worse, a feminist in ASIAN countries. Most Asians regard girls as second and how pathetic is that? There’s no gender equality and there are so many taboos and restrictions for the so-called “inferior” gender. Obviously, the society is so dependent on gender roles more than anything else. The whole thing has a lot to do with the patriarchal systems that have been here for ages. Men and women roles are diminished based on the ground of gender. Men have been taught since the early age that their appearance essential to their value and to the fulfillment of their masculine role, while girls have been taught to do all natural roles, feminine roles of women without questioning the system. They can’t do this or that just because they’re girls, I find it doesn’t make sense. Moreover, girls are constantly appreciated for their physical appearance and rarely, for their brains. This biased devaluation leads to a lack of attention for women’s achievement and thus women failed to be regarded as “important”. Secondly, women are under presented; women’s voices are rarely heard. Being loud has obviously limited us somewhat due to the society’s lame and rigid perception that girls shouldn’t be outspoken. Of course, there are a few women leaders in the government but the number is so comparatively small to the fact women make up half of the country’s population. Anyway, let’s ditch the political scene for awhile, you know, I could go on and on. Let’s take a look at the local punk scene itself, there’s no doubt there are heaps of girls in the scene as of now but they have to deal with loads of shits and hostile environment. Girls are excluded and they have to deal with misogynistic views coming for all directions. Grrrls are still being groped at the mosh pit by those perverts. These are some apparent examples, there are more.
Elise: Apparently, I’d say rape is the most pressing issue at the moment. Contrary to popular belief, living in an Islamic (secular Islamic, actually) country doesn’t ensure that women are safe. Rape is a big issue here and I think everyone is already plugged-in of what happened. I’d never thought that I would stumble upon at least a coupla articles about rape every day, every fucking day and you know what? This is so sickening. I, for one, extremely hate the idea of feeling scare every time I’m on the streets or in the taxi cabs, thinking someone is about to rape me. I’m not being paranoid but I’m really concerned about my safety and those who I love. According to some statistics, the number of cases that involved rape in Malaysia is on the rise and I’ve long been critical in the way the government deals with the problem. The existing laws/punishments are ineffective and stale and if no action is taken to remedy this situation there’s no doubt the number will continue to rise. I wonder if it will ever stop. Sadly, I dun have the answer to that.
Are you active in the feminist movement?
Carol: I can’t really say I’m an active feminist. I used to get really active but now I’m not. I did some campaigning for AWAM (a non-government organization runs by women which devoted in helping the women in crisis) a few years ago by distributing their pamphlets (which mostly about sexual harassment and rape) to our readers and friends. Though, I believe the (feminist) movement is never contrived it simply comes from several small factions of feminists and as a result it is really hard to see a visible feminist movement considering the lack of supports from the people in the punk scene and outside the scene. I also did my part by helping fellow grrrls who were in crisis. But anyway, our zine Grrrl:rebel is sort of a feminist movement. Like I mentioned earlier, we write about stuffs that all women should be aware of like women’s rights, precautions against rapists, sexual harassment and stuff like that. In addition, we educate girls and encourage more girls to speak out and do what is necessarily to be done to get their voice heard. By doing so, maybe they would get motivated to do something so I guess in a way it’s a representative of our way of being active.
Elise: Not at the moment.
What do you think about feminism today? Do you see yourself as part of ìThird Wave Feminismî and what does it mean to you?
Carol: It’s a big subject, and I’m not really keen to discuss about feminism as a whole but I guess I could talk about feminism in Malaysia. More than anything I think the movement is one mild frustration. I’m really unhappy with the level of women’s general acceptance of feminism here, as a woman as much as anything else. Some blatantly say feminism is a tiring issue and there’s no need for such movement to exist here since there is nothing to fight for. Well that’s what they think and obviously they’re wrong. As far as the issue goes, I think the ignorance and stupidity of it’s own terms speak for themselves. I realized that most girls in Malaysia have been raised in a culture that negates women in any ways possible and as a result, the girls are blinded and brainwashed by the fucked-up institution and it’s very typical now among girls to claim that sexism is not a serious issue, that the world is no longer amenable to radical change. They believe those issues don’t concern them. We know better. Truthfully, they don’t really give a fuck about it in the first place. I don’t really like preaching people and I’m not the kind of person who gives up easily either. But it really frustrates me that they’re basically conformed to society’s perception of what an “ideal” girl should be. They’re overly concerned with their physical appearance rather than anything else. The mentality is still there and it’s obvious that these people don’t have any interest in changing anything in society. On one hand, you can take pessimistic view that finger pointing is not gonna solve anything and agree that not everybody shares the same cup of tea, since they’re entitled to have their own opinions. On the other hand, you can look at it optimistically and say that these issues are relevant to them. Sexism permeating through their daily life, rape, harassments and violence against women are happening on daily occasions. Many times I’ve seen girls and wives being used and treated by their boyfriends and husbands to the point of degradation and personally, it made me to do something to change their fucked-up views. Also, the frustration lies in getting just a small faction of women who are anxious to do something and they were all from the punk/hardcore scene. I’ve never met anyone from outside of the circle. Maybe they are lots of feminists out there but I think the closest you could ever get is when you know the women in person. About this “Third wave feminism” thingy, I dun really know whether we fit in this category and I could care less about the label. The bottom line, I’m a feminist and I’m fighting for women’s cause in order to make the world a better place for men and women.
Elise: I’m getting wary of labeling myself part of the “third wave Feminism”, it’s just that I feel the label or any other label is unnecessary and it is more likely to create a sense of divisions among feminists and I always believe that actions speak louder than words. I see feminism today as the struggles of modern and smart women in a repressive society. It’s a fight against patriarchy and sexism and definitely, it’s not a war against men like a lot of people had like to think but rather the vehicle to gender equality. Apart from that, feminism inspired women to be strong and determined and thus, they’re capable of running their life and they should be given the same opportunities as males.

LIKE THE WHITE AMERICANS, THE MALAYS MUST STEP UP TO THE PLATE ~ Malaysiakini

Malaysiakini reported that Democrat candidate Barack Obama has been elected as the US first black president following his historic win over Republican rival John McCain. Barack Hussin Obama made history when he was elected as the United States of America's 44th President. . What's very interesting is that 43% of the White voters gave their votes to President-elect Obama. For a very long time, we have been fed with disinformation by our racially tainted mainstream media and by our schools that America is racist.
As far as Malaysia is concerned, the USA is a greater evil compared to Osama bin Laden, Al Qaeda or the murderous Taliban. (More interestingly, the Malaysian mainstream media actually refers to Osama, Al Qaeda and the Taliban as 'fighters' and not as cold blooded murderers and terrorists which they really are. The reason for this I suppose is because they are Muslims).
The Scribe had the opportunity to spend an entire summer in an east Texas town called Henderson. This was some 20 years ago. I was told by my White American host that Henderson was in the middle of Ku Klux Klan country. But guess what, in all my time there I never experienced nor encountered any form of racism. In fact, in all my time in the good old US of A., The Scribe was never subjected to any form of racism. The people there were so warm and friendly towards The Scribe. It was only when The Scribe got back to good old 'Tanah Tumpah Darahku' Malaysia did The Scribe actually experience racism.
For long we had trash written by gutter journalists such as Bunn Nagara, Johan Fernandez, Wong Chun Wai et al who have written about how bad, evil and racist the USA is. These hypocrites do not have the guts to write about the rampant racism in our own backyard where unlike the US, racism is 'Institutionalized' by the State here. Even the appointment of a non Malay to the position of General Manager of PKNS becomes a cause for racial consternation.
The Americans, especially the White American voters, have shown the world that they are ready to embrace an African American as their President.
Now, The Scribe is asking the Malays , "ARE YOU PREPARED TO SACRIFICE THE SOCIAL CONTRACT, THE NEP AND THE MALAY SPECIAL RIGHTS AND EMBRACE YOUR NON MALAY MALAYSIAN BROTHERS AND SISTERS AS EQUALS IN THIS LAND OF PLENTY?" "ARE YOU AS MALAYS, READY TO EMBRACE A NON MALAY / NON MUSLIM AS YOUR PRIME MINISTER?"
Some may argue that America has a longer history than Malaysia, that's why they can accept such a change. The Scribe however begs to differ. With the level of exposure to information in this age of information technology, the world has indeed become smaller and globalized. Thus the notion of "we are not ready for change' doesn't arise at all.
It may be possible for a Muslim to become a President or a Prime Minister in a non Muslim country but The Scribe sees it as almost impossible for a non Muslim to be a President or Prime Minister in a Muslim majority country (the only exception here is Lebanon due to it's complex political scenario there). In Indonesia, we had Benny Murdiani who was most suitable for the post of President not getting the job because he was a Christian. However in Malaysia, if the Malays and Muslims are sincere with their non Malay / Muslim brethren by being bold enough to step up to the plate as the White Americans did in voting in Barack Obama, sacrificing their so-called rights and privileges and embrace their non Malay / Muslim brethren as equals.
The Malays must remember that we are a small country of only 27 million souls to choose from. If we restrict the participation in nation building to race and religion, we may end up not getting the right man or woman for the job because we would have overlooked 40% of the population from among whom may have the talents, skills and expertise this country really needs to be a developed and prosperous nation. The Malays must also free themselves from the shackles of Umno and religious bigotry and ignorance which are in itself the reasons why the Malays are where they are now today.
The Malay Rulers must also play their royal part in being agents of change. We can't have a repeat of what happened in the case of the appointment of Menteri Besar (Chief Minister) in Perak and Selangor. We can't use Islam as an excuse to deny non Malay / non Muslim Malaysians their right to lead for the benefit of all Malaysians. Their Royal Highness's must also be aware that they are also Sovereigns of all Malaysians irrespective or race or religion.
THIS IS A CHANGE WE AS MALAYSIANS, CAN AND MUST MAKE! The Scribe also feels that it is appropriate to check this Dr. Martin Luther King Jr "I have a dream" speech http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbUtL_0vAJk
The Scribe also has a dream that one day a non Malay, Non Muslim child can say that he or she is going to be the Prime Minister of Malaysia and we, as parents, can honestly tell that child, "Yes you will be my child".

Vision 50-50 (chance)

If we the Rakyat (People) are to buy what the Government and the Mainstream media have been selling us all this while, if we were to believe what Badawi, Ong Tee Keat, Samy Vellu, Koh Tsu Koon, Pairin Kitingan, Alfred Jabu, et al been selling us, if we were to believe what Wong Chun Wai, Awang Selamat, TV3 been selling us, THEN,
WE, THE RAKYAT OF MALAYSIA, have the best leaders in the world and have the only political party in the entire world that can rule over Malaysia because their philosophy is 'perfect' and their leaders are selected by God. They are infallible and can do no wrong due to their 'divine' nature since they have ample 'experience' ruling the country and because they are choosen by God. They even have a 'divinely' inspired way of life called ISLAM HADHARI. Whosoever opposes this 'heavenly mandated regime' shall be villified as enemies of the State. They can be the Opposition, NGO's or religious leaders. Sometimes I wonder why bother having a democratic election to select leaders. Better to just drop this democracy bullshit and let BN rule forever. Obviously they know what's best for us. After all, every BN Prime Minister have been saying that they need more time to do their job.
The following is a Commentary by R. SHAN.

The Malaysian will – trying to cross the sea by standing and swearing at the ocean

We have gone through a whole generation of totally brainwashed sheep. We have followed anything and everything that benefits the people in government and the government system while depriving ourselves and our future generation the chance of a life filled with humanity; where we can see true law and order, where we can be happy with any other race.
When our children do not get the scholarships they deserve, we complain a little, then say, "Baa!" and bow our heads. When we do not get the contracts we ought to deserve as being the most competitive, we complain again but still we say "Baa!" and bow our heads.

When our then Deputy Prime Minister was beaten up and hauled to prison on what seemed like trumped up charges, we do not even complain. When RPK was taken away from us, we are even more cowered. We do not even complain anymore. Well, we do; but only to each other.
Malaysians have been taught to always accept, always be agreeable. We are willing to give up our liberty to speak, to think, to act; hoping that by hiding, we will save ourselves from persecution. But we do not see that we are being persecuted every day. Every single day. We see others voicing out for us and get imprisoned. We want to protect ourselves. We say if we keep quiet, then it won't happen to us. We say we are not busybodies. But we are suffering. Our children are suffering. And the children of our children will suffer more if we continue to stick our heads in the sand.
Why should we think change will come if we do not do anything to make change happen? Yes, there are some of us who are willing to voice out. But how many of these are there? 300? 500? 1000? Malaysia has a population of about 27 million. Where is everyone hiding? You can't even hide in the jungles anymore. Even the Penans have been reported to have been persecuted.
A person's will is how a person will act in order to get his wishes fulfilled. The key word here is ACT. Nothing is going to change if we are just going to think about it. Any delay to act erodes our freedom further. Time waits for no man.
Nobody can change anyone else, nor do most intend to. However, by thinking, brooding and complaining about everything and everyone, it isn't going to help either. We all know what has been going on. We have talked about it to death with friends, with family, with other readers of Malaysia-Today. We now need to be willing to act on this knowledge.
If every single one of us rise up to do our part to do what is right, not just do what is right for us individually, but right for all Malaysians irrespective of race or religion, then Malaysia will have a better future. I am not Nostradamus, I cannot foresee what should be the right thing to do or how it should be done but at least by doing something, there is a chance that change can happen. It is by doing nothing that I can guarantee that nothing will change.
Let's all evolve in our public will that you, me and everyone around us will spend some time to act or initiate acts for the good of society without any expectations. Just for the sake of wanting to do something for someone else. Anyone else; not just for people of your own race, of your own religion, of your own beliefs.

DPM NAJIB'S OPEN HOUSE PLEDGE ANOTHER EYEWASH

The following HINDRAF STATEMENT was contributed by MALAYSIA HINDU VOICE.

DPM NAJIB'S OPEN HOUSE PLEDGE ANOTHER EYEWASH

DPM SHOULD INSTEAD ANNOUNCE A SPECIAL ALLOCATION AND CONCRETE PLAN TO UPLIFT THE INDIAN SOCIO ECONOMIC STATUS

We refer to DPM Dato Seri Najib Tun Razak's Statement that a "the Indian community's plight was also being seriously looked into by a special cabinet committee, which he chairs, to ensure that it had participation in the national economy and equity".

HINDRAF wishes to reiterate that the Indian community had heard enough promises for the last 51 years that would last them the next 3 generations of the Government's promises that it cared for the plight of the Indian community and that they "would look into it".

The statement of the DPM is yet another eyewash during the festive Deepavali period to pacify and mislead the Malaysian Indian community as usual. Every Deepavali open houses and MIC annual general assemblies the Indians are made to believe and given the assurances that their "plight are being looked into" and "help is just around the corner".

We have been hearing this for the past 51 years now and no Malaysian Indian would believe this apart from the MIC cronies who live and thrive on the "biscuits" thrown at them by UMNO. The DPM must have thought the Indians could be fooled as usual and perhaps he would have received a "thunderous applause" for his "goodie announcements" which no doubt must have come from all the planted MIC cronies.

The DPM who is also the Finance Minister should stop the "empty talk" and instead make a concrete announcement of an allocation of funds to uplift the socio economic condition of Indians in the country. We want to know how serious the Government is in solving the woes of the Indian community in dollars and cents. Enough of setting up Special Cabinet committees and all the years of empty promises.

The Malaysian Indians have woken up and can no longer be cheated with mere bare promises. The Government of the day has to be serious and solemn, come up with a concrete plan of how to address the issue instead of giving piecemeal solutions and empty promises.

P.Waytha Moorthy
CHAIRMAN
HINDRAF
