Penang Free School held a school play, featuring “The King & I” at Dewan Sri Pinang, which is one of Penang’s most renowned venue for big concerts, dramas and plays. Staged by students of PFS, and accompanied by the school orchestra, one can't help but notice that a lot of effort had been put by the students into the play to make it successful.
Tickets for this play was sold at RM 20 and RM 50 respectively. However what was most disappointing is that the proceeds from the play did not go to the students who sacrificed so much for the play nor did it go to any kind of student welfare fund. PFS is a Government Cluster School which is fully aided by the BN Government unlike schools like MBS, SXI or the Chinese Schools. Having said that, for a school that is fully funded by the BN Government, why is it that the school toilet came crashing down. Luckily, no one was injured. Still there are complaints for example, that the Form 6 classrooms leak when it rains.
The questions that begs to be answered is that where has all the BN Government funds for schools like PFS have gone to? Why do Fully aided Government schools need donations from the corporate sector and the public? Aren't this already been done with tax payers money?
It is common knowledge that Fully aided government schools are run by incompetent Principals or Little Mullahs / Little Napoleons who run these school as though they own it. Many of these principals are promoted not because they are competent but because they are very good is buttering their way up the ladder or by having political connections. These incompetent Principals are often abetted by their senior assistants, office staff and teachers in their inner circle who also want to curry favors with the Principal the way the Principal did to get where he or she is today.
Something must be done to stop this serious waste of public tax money which has been mismanaged by self serving school administrators. We hope that the Principal of Penang Free School Mr. Ramli Bin Din (picture above) can give us some answers.

Most Malaysian schools are made So Islamic that there is no place for non-malay children, that even the malays feel coerced....Schools are not fun any more. Even my daughter who hates being absent has begun to ask for days off, because there are no teachers in class or teachers ask them to do their iwn work, long meaningless assemblies where the Pengetuas and teachers push religion down their throat, not motivating children in creative ways etc. But no... they do not want to miss even a day of tuition and they have more respect for their tuition teachers. I feel sad as I was a teacher and recently retired.

Nothing! Not even in the top league anymore. Why? More Malay students mah! Jatuh standard.
