我要强烈的在此請問我犯了什么涛天大罪而使你叶金福律师千方百計要警方人员扣留我和尚?


我耒至梹城, 初出道, 暫住甲洞三宝寺俢行, 只因看不过眼叶金福律师的為人, 无礼傲慢不可一视的态度对待壇主, 稍为講他几句而己他却採用如此下流的手段伤害出家人, 的确令人不敢恭维.


一校之長, 其学生如有犯错, 警方人员都必須先见校長去了觧实况, 才可行动, 這是一般常规.但遺憾的是. 他叶金福身为律师却反其道而行, 不依佛理而轻视佛教的精神一味要显示他是马华公会鹅唛區会及甲洞三宝寺理事会的主席, 强求要警方人員扣捕我和尚, 耒逹到其目標, 但还好,基於宗教敏感,連巫裔警方人員也懂得和尊重別人的文化習俗,不敢軽举妄动, 否則后果不敢設想.


我明白, 他马华公会區会主席那督叶金福律师大动肝火, 生氣一位担任該 (暹寺) 甲洞三宝寺將近20年的壇主, 也是自筹建三宝寺最大的功臣, 其因是师父惊觉到一个新耒的叶金福律师满囗仁義道德, 說一套做一套, 排除異己, 而理事会成员多數为其親戚家族当任, 再加上处理 (暹寺) 三宝寺钱財不透明, 除此之处, 他的行动想把佛教的浄土变为政治活動埸所, 公家修道之地, 当作私人財產。


师父看在眼裡, 以大局为重, 而善意的给予劝告, 却引起他马华公会鹅唛區会主席叶金福律师, 闷闷不乐, 坐立不安, 无法无天的反而处处为难, 并不友善的加以迫害壇主离开 (暹寺) 三宝寺


他马华公会鹅唛區会主席叶金福律师, 這种司马昭之心, 伪君子作风, 人人都知--------。你能花言巧語, 蒙蔽誤导群衆一時, 但不能欺骗一世. 佛教的因果肯定報应。


最后我也顺此祝願他醒觉, 諸悪莫作, 衆善奉行。

Chua Soi Lek Hits Final Nail In BN/Umno's Coffin!

The jury is still out on who is the winner of the Lim Guan Eng - Chua Soi Lek Debate. As we all know, the Debate did nothing to bring back ethnic Chinese support for MCA. What the Debate has actually done is, it has now further alienated Malay Muslim support from BN/Umno.


Chua Soi Lek's attack on DAP's alliance with PAS in Pakatan Rakyat and his attacks of Hudud Law has really infuriated Malay Muslims. Chua Soi Lek may have unwittingly driven the final nail in BN/Umno's coffin judging from the angry responses from readers of Malaysiakini Malay language section. Many Malays and Muslims believe that MCA is speaking out what is in the hearts and minds of Umno. How would you explain why there's no rebuke nor condemnation of Chua Soi Lek by Umno. Perkasa, Pekida, Jati, Jais, Jakim, Hassan Ali, Ibrahim Ali, Zul Nordin, Ridhuan Tee etc.? Whatever the case, the Debate has certainly won DAP further Malay Muslim support. MCA amat jelas tidak suka Islam. Orang Melayu harus sedar, di Malaysia wajib hormat menghormati seperti amalan DAP dan PAS. Cua Soi Lek sudah kehabisan modal dalam politik. MCA hanya mampu menjadi anjing suruhan omno. Sekarang MCA tidak bernilai kepada omno. Sokongan rakyat kepada MCA sudah jatuh ke TAHAP 2% sahaja, sementara DAP sokongan memuncak bukan sahaja di kalangan kaum Cina tetapi bumiputera di Sabah dan Sarawak melambung mendadak.

Christian's in Malaysia are getting increasingly irritated by the Christiano phobia that is going on unabated. Every day we hear accusations being leveled against Christians and Christianity. Unlike Muslims, Christians always turn the other cheek when they are persecuted or ostracised. A good example was the fact that Christians did not react violently when the movie DA VINCI CODE or THE LAST TEMPTATIONS OF JESUS CHRIST was shown even though both movies
were blasphemous and hurt the feelings of Christians.


It was indeed sickening to hear how the Malaysian Ulamak Council (PUM) tied up Christianity with Valentine's Day and Valentine's Day with immorality. The fact is Valentine Day has nothing to do with Christianity as do Santa Claus. Yet, these evil mullahs want to make it appear so. With the likes of Hassan Ali, Ibrahim Ali, Zul Nordin, HIMPUN, PEKIDA, UTUSAN
MALAYSIA allowed to slander Christians, only God knows when the patience of Christians will run out.

Catholic Bishop Dr Paul Tan Chee Ing described the latest claims on alleged Christian proselytisation of Muslims by Hasan Ali as “hilarious if not for their nature which would tend to inflame the feelings of the credulous.”


“I pray and hope people are not that credulous because what he says has the tendency to incite people but, frankly, on reading some of the things he imputes to so-called Christian missionaries, my first impulse is to laugh,” said the head of the Catholic Church in the Melaka-Johor diocese.


“If it weren’t for the tendency of some of the things he says to inflame the feelings of sections of the public, you could laugh this man to scorn,” remarked the Jesuit-trained prelate.


But this is no laughing matter


However, Bishop Tan asserted that religion is too serious a matter for jokes, of the deliberate or advertent kind, which is why he is puzzled as to why Hassan is not being restrained by the authorities who are apt to clamp down on religious provocateurs.


“Here is a case where if one truly espouses moderation, one should tamp down on Hasan Ali’s obvious trespasses against it,” argued the bishop.


Hasan, the former Selangor state executive councillor for Islamic Affairs, had reiterated that Christian missionaries donning Muslim robes have gone into mosques to pray with Muslims in order to convert them.


Hasan, who was expelled by PAS last month for repudiating the party line on a host of issues, also claimed that 51 Muslim apostates had confided in him that they had undergone baptism and had consumed holy water.


“The short answer to these claims is that Christian missionaries cannot wear a masquerade while on mission for the faith and holy water is used in baptism and for signing Christians but never for consumption,” said Bishop Tan.


“Whoever is supposedly doing these things that Hasan says Christian missionaries are doing and getting the people they convert to do them, is not of the Christian creed but a mockery of it,” he asserted.


Relying on innuendos and insinuations


Bishop Tan, who is concurrently president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei, observed that Hasan’s campaign against alleged Christian proselytisation of Muslims was “heavily reliant on innuendo and insinuation.”


“It’s very difficult to rebut the claims he makes because these are void of the substantiation of names, places and documentation, but Christian silence is not an option for that would imply either apathy or acquiescence,” commented Bishop Paul Tan.


“So when Hasan propounds his tall tales we have to give them short shrift for that’s what they deserve though it’s getting somewhat wearisome to do so every time he sheds his nonsense,” he said.

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad alleged today that the US and Israel are conspiring to affect a regime change in Malaysia through a “puppet government” to be led by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.


Writing in his blog, the former prime minister and Anwar’s long-time arch-nemesis said it was the US government’s hope that the new leadership under the opposition leader would establish diplomatic relations with Israel and distance itself from the Palestinian struggle.


“With that, a puppet government will be formed in Malaysia, one that will support all of the US’s efforts to conquer the world,” Dr Mahathir (picture) wrote.


The outspoken veteran politician said his fears were clearly reflected in Anwar’s statement during a recent interview with the influential Wall Street Journal newspaper when the latter purportedly expressed support for “all efforts to protect the security of the state of Israel”.


Describing the statement as “unsurprising”, Dr Mahathir alleged that Anwar believes his unbending support for the US and Israel would help him realise his ambition to be the next Malaysian prime minister.


“Anwar therefore gives the impression of being a liberal; one who accepts and supports Western concepts like human rights, freedom in everything, anti-cronyism and corruption, rejects the New Economic Model, which is said to victimise certain ethnic groups here and many more, in order to get praise and support from the US.


“It has been successful because America now views Anwar as the most qualified (candidate) to carry out this regime change in Malaysia,” he said.


Unlike Anwar, Dr Mahathir added, the present administration led by Barisan Nasional (BN) is not favoured by the US as it keeps close ties with China and Russia, does not recognise Israel, often criticises US policies and does not support its sentiments towards Iran and other nations.


“So when Anwar was in court for sodomy charges, they (US) condemned Malaysia for allegedly attempting to block Anwar’s ambition to be prime minister of Malaysia.


“Of course, if Anwar fails in his bid, then this regime change planned by America would fail as well,” said Dr Mahathir.


The WSJ had quoted the PKR de facto leader as saying in an interview last month that he supported “all efforts to protect the security of the state of Israel.”


But the newspaper said Anwar had stopped short of saying he would open diplomatic ties with the Jewish state, a step the former deputy prime minister said remains contingent on Israel respecting the aspirations of Palestinians.

Muslim Religious Teacher's In Malaysia Poisoning the Minds of Children with Hatred!

Religious schools are one of the main issues related to terrorism and counter-terrorism. The image of Taliban (students from religious schools) and their Mulla (religious teachers) coloured perceptions of some people towards Islamic religious schools as breeding grounds of extremism and terrorism.


It is important to understand the difference between the philosophy of Islamic education and various forms of Islamic religious schools. One must also understand differences between various forms of Islamic religious schools e.g pesantren, pondok, madrasah.


All these forms carry different meanings depending on the context or country where they are operated. For example, madrasahs in Singapore are very different in many aspects than madrasahs in Pakistan. Even in Singapore, the word madrasah is used for two very different Islamic religious education platforms; full time madrasah and part time madrasah. Pondok system practiced in Indonesia is different from what is practiced in Malaysia. In Indonesia, there are pondoks who are known as Pondok Moderen (Modern Pondok), which essentially operates just like any schools. The only different is that, they offer religious subjects in addition to normal subjects.


In the case of Malaysia, only one religious school was linked to JI, which was Sekolah Agama Tarbiyatul Islamiyah Lukmanul Hakim at Ulu Tiram, Johor. It is alleged that many religious school in Malaysia are breeding ground for the Islamic Party (PAS). Even if it is true, it is a separate issue. That itself is not sufficient to label an institution as a source of extremism or terrorism. While PAS dominance in Malaysian religious schools may be a political problem but it is not a security problem.


What is really troubling here is the influence wielded by the Ustad's and Ustazah's over our children. Many urban Muslim parents in Malaysia have to juggle their time between career and family. As caring parents who are concerned about their children's well being, they are forced to put their trust into these Ustad's and Ustazah's for their children's religious formation. Even though these urban Malay Muslim parents are moderates and educated, their children are becoming more extreme in their religious outlook, very often seeing evil in their friends who are non Muslims and non Malays. This 'gospel of hatred' has been ingrained in the minds of Muslim children during their 'Mengaji' classes. The fact is, these half baked Muslim teachers who often ride on motorbikes have a profound hatred towards non Muslims and non Malays. Not surprisingly, these Ustad's and Ustazah's are pro-Umno and make sure that their charges have a hatred towards the Opposition.


What we have here is not only the breeding ground for more Hasan Ali's, Ibrahim Ali's. Ridhuan Tee Abdullah's and Zul Nordin's but probably future suicide bombers. Even in Government schools where there's a racial and religious mix, Ustad's and Ustazah's are given positions of power and prominence to carry out their diabolical agenda.


The only way we can change this is to change the Government because the politics of BN/Umno will only encourage such extremism to flourish. Jom Ubah! Asalkan Bukan Umno/BN.

MCA SETTING TRAP FOR DAP WITH DEBATE ON CHINESE ISSUES

According to Malaysiakini, MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng have both agreed to debate on the political future of the Chinese come the next general election. The Scribe smells a rat here as the debate itself is a double edged sword for DAP and Pakatan Rakyat.


Presently, it appears that it is a foregone conclusion as to whom ethnic Chinese voters in Malaysia will support in the coming GE. MCA, Gerakan and the rest of the Chinese based BN component parties in Sabah and Sarawak are seeing ethnic Chinese voters deserting them in droves.


Now, Umno also sees DAP as a threat to its survival as Malays are beginning to switch their support to DAP. Should YAB Lim take part in this debate, the BN controlled mainstream media will claim that the DAP is a Chinese chauvinist party that only cares for the ethnic Chinese in Malaysia. On the other hand, if YAB Lim declines to debate the MCA, the BN controlled mainstream media will claim that it is only the MCA and BN that are championing for the rights of the Chinese in Malaysia.


The Scribe says that the DAP and YAB Lim need not waste their time with this debate as DAP after all is a multiracial Malaysian Malaysia party which stands for and fights for the rights of all Malaysians irrespective of race, religion or social standing unlike the race based racist political parties in BN such as Umno, MCA and MIC.

I agree to your post. The agent is the most worst agent I have seen. Got feedbacks from few friends and all have been affected by this cheaters. One of my friend came to sign up for silled and asked to make payment then the whole consultation given by Pauline Yong is wrong and she ask him to go for business. How stupid she can be? Who is she to decide what the client want? If they client cant go for skilled she must tell the truth,rather than cheating them and ask them to sign up with them. Most idiotic lady.


Another friend signed up in 2008 and still have not got anything and My friend 'S'(not prefered to reveal the name) have to call the agent up all the time and follow up rather than the agent informing on the updates, whereas the other agents are not like that.


They are just good in their seminars.Giving it every week without fail.No idea why they are giving too many seminars and selling hard their product.


Sorry to say this but then guess if she sell herself she will not even go for more than $1....F*c*u*k her biatch!

hello there people...let me share my views as well...i'm one of the victim from the bloody cheating agent RAYFORD MIGRATION SERVICES as well....I came to sign up for a skilled migration and met Pauline and Rahimi Ryan after attending a seminar. If I were to describe both of them , I would say they are F***KED up person I have ever met. Pauline is a lady who is so good in her talking and gives bullshit advise, in fact she don't even know anything about migration. Will say everything is possible and will make people to pay full payment and 2days later a staffcalled from the agent and told I'm not eligible and when I contacted Pauline she refuses to answer my call and when I demanded for full refund, I was told there will not be any refund given.


Rahimi Ryan is also in the same boat. Both the con marketing person gives me so much hope and now making me run up and down for getting my money back!


The agent is just good in sweet talk and cheat the clients! NEVER EVER GET CHEATED WITH RAYFORD MIGRATION SERVICES

RACISTS MALAYSIAN IMMIGRATION OFFICERS STORM HOME OF ETHNIC CHINESE MALAYSIAN!

We have heard of the high handedness in which the BN/Umno controlled Police, Customs and Immigration carry out their duties. We all know what happened to individuals like Teoh Beng Hock, Kugan, Ahmad Sarbani, Amirul Rashid and a host of other unfortunate souls whose lives came to an abrupt end
when they came up against these BN/Umno controlled government agencies. On January 29, 2012, Derek Tan and his pregnant wife probably had Teoh Beng Hock, Kugan, Ahmad Sarbani, Amirul Rashid in their thoughts when the Malaysian Immigration officers stormed into their home in a manner in which thugs or loan sharks would do. We, the Rakyat (People) must make a stand against these mongrels and their Masters, BN/Umno. Let no one turn this into a racial issue just because the culprits are from a certain race. What's important is that the rights of a Patriotic Malaysian Citizen was threatened by an element of the BN/Umno Regime.


Below is the email exchange between the victim, Derek Tan and Mohd Zamberi Bin Abdul Aziz, the director of the Enforcement Division,Immigration Department, Malaysia.

Dear Leaders of Immigration Malaysia


Just earlier this morning at 3.00am, Sunday, 29 January 2012, a team of "officers" from the Malaysian Immigration conducted a raid on my residence at Venice Hill Condominium, Cheras. Shouting to open my door and using abusive terms such as "Bodoh", accusations of "maksiat", and using violence for at least 15 minutes on my front door.


I simply refused to open the door and insisted on only opening upon arrival of the police which I immediately made a report after your visit. Which common person would open the door to unknown strangers at 3 in the morning? Not only did your team refuse to assist in waiting until the arrival of the police but they continued to mock, humiliate and attack my family at 3 in the morning.


My pregnant wife was left in tears and after the police arrived, your staff continued his thug attitude and had to be restrained by a female staff. Your staff continued to threaten and make aggressive behaviour to my pregnant wife, brother and me which was witnessed by your own team and neighbours.


This raid a result of no evidence and no basis is not becoming. Your teams simply refusal to wait for the police to arrive after threatening with violence and harsh words for over 15 minutes at unacceptable hours in the morning is unacceptable and a shame to Malaysian law enforcement.


Trust that I will do what it takes to bring this news to as many as possible and that you and your team that have failed in the first place of allowing such "illegal" immigrants to enter into the country and put your nation's own citizens at such public humiliation and psychological stress and trauma during a celebration period of Chinese New Year is a disgrace.


Even the police force that arrived had to apologize for your unruly behaviour. Even at the end they refused to show their ID and left after taking our details and had to end the raid by continuing to threaten in a gangster manner. The police has a record of this incident.


Would demand an answer on these


1. What were your team doing conducting a raid in the wee hours of the morning based on an "anonymous tip"?


2. How could your team begin a raid based on a tip with such rude and harsh attitude unbecoming of any uniformed force?


3. How could you train your raiding team to use terms such as "bodoh", "maksiat", and continuous threats of "senang aje nak kasi pecah pintu ini?", continuous excessive use of violence at my front door even thought it was politely requested that we wait for the arrival of the police to resolve the issue?


4. How do you explain using these treatment of citizens on no basis of evidence? How can you condone gangsterism from your own enforcement team? How can you believe that unbased violence by your own team is justified even when a simply request to ask for the presence of police be denied?


5. How would you expect any honest citizen to respond to such violence at 3am on a Saturday morning beginning with threats?

On behalf of the Immigration Department, please kindly accept our sincere apologies for the unfortunate experience that happen to you and your family during our raid at Venice Hill Condominium on 29 January 2012, Sunday at about 03.00 am.


We also apologize for the unruly behaviour of our officers during the time, if any. For your information, the raiding was conducted based on complaints made by residents of the condominium, requesting the Immigration Department to do checking on foreigners staying there, especially those from African Continental which the local residents suspected were illegal immigrants..


The raid was done between 2.00 am to 4.00 am because we believed that was the time the suspected illegal immigrants wiould be at home on weekend. Measures had been taken to avoid inconvenience to local citizens during the raid.


For that purpose, our officers had visited the place to do surveillance and gather information from some residents before the raiding. About 100 units of the residency had been listed as unit rented to / occupied by foreigners and all had been checked in the raid. Unfortunately,could be by mistake, yours were in the list.

I do not think you understand the severity of the issue. Your men cracked my front door and violated several human rights issues.


I believe that I sufficient grounds to take up a civil suit against the Immigration department of Malaysia. A simply apology is not going to salvage the situation. I would want to know the names and identity of the personnel involved and action you plan to take against them. I will continue to pursue this case until adequate justice is prescribed.


I find your explanation totally unreasonable. Your intelligence gathering is a total sham. Your team raided the wrong unit. You are making excuses to cover this up. My family is still traumatized and our rights as citizens have been abused and you think a simply apology will smooth things over.


You still fail to address:


1) refusal of your personnel to show their IDs


2) violation of our human rights and public degradation and humiliation including undue stress to my pregnant wife


3) abuse of power by your raid team not to mention unnecessary thuggish behavior. Your teams demand to open my door because they wanted to go back and tidur is a mockery to all professional services


4) unreasonableness in waiting for the police to arrive


5) damage to my personal property


6) your cover up story of your raiding team's mistake


7) why in the world was an operation done at 3am and what rights do you have to demand entry on my property in unruly fashion


Rest assured I will continue to engage the media, pursue this at all relevant government offices at Putrajaya (already the public complaints bureau at the Prime Minister's office has acknowledged my complaint) and will be taking legal action until this issue is resolved. Rest assured your sad excuse of a letter will be published to the public.

Publicists would disagree, but any journalist worth their salt will tell you the best stories never come straight off a press release. Occasionally that’s where they start, however. And so it was at 2.44pm on January 16th, when I received an email from Sydney-based fashion PR firm Little Hero headed “Malaysia’s First Lady covets Carl Kapp”, alerting me to what they were claiming would in anybody’s terms constitute an unusually large single, personal order of a designer brand - 61 items. Many designers wouldn't have 61 pieces in a single collection. The alleged client was Rosmah Mansor, the wife of Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak. I called Little Hero back within minutes. The story had been passed over by the fashion editors of two Australian newspapers, said Little Hero staffer Holly Beer, who immediately followed up with a second email, with yet more tantalising details. The second of two appointments had taken place in the PM’s hotel on New Year's Eve – as it emerged, The Star Sydney Casino’s new venue The Darling, the penthouse no less – with the PM himself present. After taking Rosmah's measurements and order, Kapp was due to be flown by the client to KL for a second round of fittings, said Beer. "It was unbelievably surreal" Kapp told me later that day. Indeed. No mention was made of Kapp being dispatched to KL in a Learjet but by this stage nothing would have surprised me.


This wasn't the wife of a Russian oil tycoon, but a politician, in fact Malaysia's most high profile politician. The very same politician who had spent the better part of 2011 embroiled in controversy with his Australian counterpart over ‘The Malaysian Solution’, a controversial plan to swap asylum seekers. The Australian High Court declared it illegal in August, due to the fact that Malaysia is not a signatory to the United Nations 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees. The safety of the asylum seekers could not be guaranteed in Malaysia it was argued.


Of course, the fashion business is prone to hubris. But I had no reason to doubt Beer and Kapp. I have dealt with Little Hero's director Rae Begley for at least five years and have always found her to be a straight-shooter. Nevertheless, I checked with the Malaysian High Commission in Canberra. I spoke to an "Ayshah" - that was the only name given - who confirmed Najib was in the country at the time, on holiday. I explained that I was calling to check the bona fides of some information about Rosmah Mansor buying some designer clothing in Sydney and Ayshah said she would look into it and get back to me. She never called back.


Although there were two eyewitnesses to the second appointment at the hotel (Kapp and his brand manager Yoko Sugiura), I checked that The Darling penthouse was open for business on New Year's Eve, in case of any confusion. Also, its price list. The penthouse was not officially open, as it turned out, but it was definitely operational on New Year's Eve the hotel reported. And I calculated a potential estimate of the dollar size of the Carl Kapp order, based on Kapp's price list. According to retail sources, it was realistic.


Having never previously heard of Rosmah Mansor and her gravity-defying bouffant do, moreover, I did a little research. With a laundry list of previous stories in Malaysia dedicated to her alleged extravagant spending, it took a nanosecond to realise what a can of worms - or rather, V05 - this was.


With limos, penthouses, more cash being splashed around than The Bellagio's high rollers room and – incredulously – no non disclosure agreement, I couldn’t believe my luck. As I pushed the publish button on frockwriter’s January 17 post “Carl Kapp’s couture capers in KL”, I noted on Twitter, 'You couldn’t make this s*** up'. By the end of last week that’s exactly what I was accused of doing.


Here is a statement released to the Malaysian media on Wednesday 25th January from Kapp via Little Hero, on the latter's letterheard. In it, Kapp recants all of the information that was previously released to me by Little Hero in a bid to drum up publicity for its client and his own statements made in two separate interviews with both myself and The Sydney Morning Herald columnist Andrew Hornery, who picked the story up for his 'Private Sydney' column on Saturday 21st January (which he followed up with a second story on Saturday 28th January). PERKASA/UMNO 'PEK KHIM' FOR CHINESE MALAYSIANS

Perkasa’s giving out of white ‘ang pows’ to the people who attended its Chinese New Year open house, which the right-wing NGO claims was a mistake due to ignorance, exposes the flaw that sometimes characterises Malay-Muslim considerations of the Other.


Not all Malays or Muslims are insensitive towards the customs and beliefs of other races and religions - in fact, some are exemplary in their show of respect - but this instance of Perkasa giving out ang pows in envelopes the colour of which signifies death in Chinese culture is not the first and only illustration of insensitivity.


Another notable example is the serving of beef at functions, even official ones, or at private parties when Hindus are present.


This cannot be due to ignorance, especially if government departments are hosts of such functions. If ignorance is offered as a reason, there will be no end to such pleas. That’s why under the law, ignorance is no excuse.


More importantly, this nation comprising denizens of various races, cultures and religions has been around long enough for everyone to find out and understand what is offensive to the Other, and, having done so, refrain from causing such offence.


Besides, what if it were the other way around, such as if Muslims attended a function hosted by non-Muslims at which non-halal food was also served? If, say, a prominent organisation were to do that, what would be the reaction?


I would hazard that Perkasa, for one, would make a beeline to the nearest police station and make a report against that organisation. And its leader, Ibrahim Ali, would issue a condemnatory statement invoking sedition against the organisation.


If an offence such as Perkasa’s on the Chinese community still occurs, it can mean that the state has failed in educating the people to be sensitive towards the Other, and that for all its declared efforts to bring about harmony, tolerance and understanding among all Malaysians, the state may not be approaching it the right way or even doing the right thing.


Perkasa’s offence can also reinforce the perception that the majority race and the followers of the main religion of this country regard the sensitivities of the minorities too lightly.


Star forced to apologise for faux pas


Some people may say that such a perception is misguided, even erroneous, but the awful truth remains that it has been around for quite a while. In fact, those who hold that perception would aver that it is the state that has been setting the trend in the way it regards the sensitivities of the minorities.


To back that up, the cow-head incident of 2009 immediately comes to mind. Instead of chastising the protesters who had defiled an animal that is sacred to the Hindus, Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein actually defended their right to protest.


On the other hand, the state exhibits extreme care for the sensitivities of the majority race and the followers of the main religion, and expects everyone to be respectful of these.


We need only recall that during the last fasting month, when The Star published an eating-out supplement headlined ‘Ramadan delights’ in which it also featured food that was non-halal, the newspaper was censured severely - by Hishammuddin as well - and given a show-cause letter. It was eventually let off after it apologised profusely.


Now that it’s the other way around, should Perkasa apologise to the Chinese for its white-envelope faux pas? Well, if it doesn’t, it will merely reinforce the perception mentioned above.


And for all that its secretary-general, Syed Hassan Syed Ali, has said that “to Perkasa, white signifies clean, holy, sincere”, and that “Perkasa did not know white envelopes are used during funerals”, the fact remains that it did not bother to do simple research on something as significant as a festival that means a lot to the Chinese.


Either that or it could not be bothered to learn more about Chinese culture. From which it could be inferred that Perkasa truly cares little for the sensitivities of the minorities.


Syed Hassan also reportedly said, “That is why we need a plural society, so that we can understand one another’s customs.” This is most telling about his attitude, and perhaps Perkasa’s too. We already are a plural society, but he hasn’t noticed it!


The sad thing for Perkasa is that the incident has undermined its intent in holding the Chinese New Year open house. Instead of showing that it is “not a racist organisation”, it ended up insulting the Chinese.


MCA colluding with Perkasa?


But then, hardly any Chinese would have believed its declared intent in the first place anyway, which therefore makes it strange that an MCA member actually brought 50 people to the open house, knowing full well that Perkasa was its host.


He was no ordinary MCA member either, but a committee member of the party’s Seputeh division. And although Collin Tiew later claimed that he came not as an MCA man, his presence at the event was nothing less than shocking. Even more shocking is the fact that he brought 50 people along.


Was that to fill up the open house so that the turnout wouldn’t look so bad? Did this indicate that the MCA is colluding with Perkasa, thereby confirming the public perception that Perkasa is actually tied to BN?


One wonders what MCA president Chua Soi Lek, who has lately been so quick to pounce on the opposition for the slightest contradiction in its stand, has to say about that. After all, Perkasa has been a thorn in the MCA’s butt. Everything Chua has said in the interest of the Chinese community has met with fire from Perkasa.


The NGO has accused him of insulting Islam, chastised him for his comments on hudud, made a police report on his alleged questioning of bumiputera special rights, and Ibrahim Ali has called him a “racist”. For the MCA to work with such an organisation would be contradictory to its stand.


So, what is really going on? What is the actual relationship between the MCA and Perkasa? Are they on the same side after all?


Perception is everything, as Chua would well know. If he doesn’t clear the air over these questions, the Chinese who still have faith in the MCA might think that the party was colluding with Perkasa despite Tiew’s denial. This might cause them to feel betrayed.
